KLA 121 Klallam Keyboard for Keyman
táči u cxʷ?
This is a Klallam Language keyboard with a visual keyboard for PC and Mac, as well as keyboards for iOS and Android devices. These visual features were built upon Timothy Montler's Klallam keyboard for Keyman.
This keyboard is freely distributable. It is named for the first Peninsula College Klallam Language class held in the fall of 2020.
I would love your suggestions on improving the keyboard. If you have any, please email me at: brock@brockwa.com
A list of current dreams for the keyboard's next version:
-A single barred lambda key in addition to the "ui" key combo method in the original.
-A Latin "l" in addition to the ɬ. We need to text about tálə and saplín without switching keyboards!
-Fewer keys so that keys on small screens can stretch wider for fumbly fingers.
1. Download the Klallam Keyboard .KMP File
You will install this file into the Keyman app.
2. Download the Keyman App
Install the latest version of Keyman from the Keyman web site:
3. Installation
For Mobile Devices:
-Open the Keyman App
-Choose: the "more options" icon at the upper right ( ... )
-Choose: Settings
-Choose: Install From File Browse for .KMP Files
-Navigate to where you saved kl121_a.kmp and select it.
Ideally, this works the first time. But on some mobile devices, trying this the first time leads to nothing (particularly iPhones and iPads), but on the third or fourth time, it installs the keyboard. I will discover why this is and will post better instructions when I discover the answer.
For Laptop Computers:
-Open the Keyman Application
-Choose "Install Keyboard", a the button at the lower left of the keyman window.
-navigate to where you saved kl121_a.kmp and select it.
